How to add YouTube videos into your Canvas Course
If you are interested in adding YouTube videos to your course, there are several ways to add videos directly from YouTube without ads.
This article will discuss two different ways to add a YouTube video to your course:
- Upload into Canvas Studio via YouTube Link
- Using the Rich Content Editor (RCE)
Canvas Studio w/ YouTube Link

When you log into Canvas, go into Canvas Studio

Navigate to Create, which can be found towards the far right in the blue button.
- In Create, click on Add Media.

- Navigate to YouTube and copy the YouTube URL.
- Paste the URL into the Paste External Link area in the prompt window and click Add Video.
- Once you click Add video, the video will upload into your Canvas Studio account.
- You can now link YouTube videos in your Canvas Studio account for your course.
Adding YouTube Videos through the Rich Content Editor
- Navigate to your Canvas Course where you want to add a YouTube Video.
- Navigate to the Canvas page in your course where you want to add the YouTube Video and click Edit.
- Navigate to the Rich Content Editor (RCE) and find the Apps symbol (this looks like an electrical plug)

- Click on the YouTube App, if this is the first time navigating to the Apps tab, you will need to select View All.

- Scroll down and find the YouTube App.

- Use the search bar and find the relevant video that you want to use.
- Once you find the video that you want to use, click on the Embed button.
